RequirementTesting for E Dan
WTSDA Requirements
Age RequirementsMust be 13 years old by the date of the test
Time in TrainingMinimum of two (2) years training since Cho Dan Test
Forms (Hyungs)
  • All Previous Forms plus:
  • Naihanchi E Dan
  • Bong Hyung Sam Bu
Dae Ryung (Sparring)
  • One Step Sparring Hands & Kicks 1–30
  • Ho Sin Sul 1–30
  • Free Sparring
Breaking
*Region 2 Requirement
The applicant may be asked to break with hand and kick techniques using
multi-target setup.

* Power, Speed, and Jumping Breaks. A brick
(up to 2) or double board break may be replaced as the power break for those ages 18 and up with a
higher level of ability.

Written Test
*Region 2 Requirement
All knowledge gained in junior ranks may be reviewed including all material
in the Dan Manual.

* Pass a 100 question test with an 80% or
higher. Done electronically in your studio prior to the pre-test. Allowed 1 retake prior to the
test.

EssayThe applicant must submit an essay of more than 2,000 words for the promotion
test. The theme may be chosen by the applicant as long as it relates to the subject of promotion to
a higher Dan.
FeesTesting payment due to Instructor (see instructor for details). Must be
current on all dues and have an active Dan membership that does not expire within 6 months of the
test.
Region 2 Requirements
Number of Regional Events
  • Candidates must attend a minimum of 1 event per year while holding a Cho Dan rank.
  • Attendance at the 2 events associated with their testing cycle (the event connected to the
    Pre-test and the Test for E Dan) is mandatory.
Number of Region 2 Tournaments
*counts toward total number of regional events
1 – Region 2 Championship is required for the entire duration of time spent
as a Cho Dan as a competitor, volunteer, or judge.
Number of TAC Clinics
*counts toward total number of regional events
1 TAC event is required for the entire duration of time spent as a Cho Dan.
**Special Note: If the requirement is not met, candidates who do not meet these
attendance requirements will be required to wait 1 extra cycle (approx. 6 months)
before being eligible to test.
Judging Certification
  • Certified as a CORNER judge (applicable to only those ages 17+)
  • Certified as a timekeeper/scorekeeper (applicable only to those ages 15–16)
